The forward-thinking ambition of 123DV Architecture echoes through the twisting walls and winding halls of Villa Dali in Vroondaal, The Netherlands. This Zen house design has a mellow flow, was created for a “nautical-minded” client who would appreciate the seashell-inspired circular floor plan. And art lovers – like the homeowners – probably won’t let the name reference slip by unnoticed. Inspired by Salvadore Dali, his skewed art and optical illusions, this contemporary villa leads you happily in circles, through rounded living areas and culminating in a central spiral staircase. On the main floor, the kitchen, dining room and library all incorporate asymmetrical, sculptural shelves flavored by their heavily grained wood and undulating lines. Upstairs, a sitting room, bedroom and ensuite bath follow the circular floor plan.
